Firstly, Jurema (Mimosa Hostilis) powder is the ground root bark of the Mimosa Hostilis, nowadays the scientific name is Mimosa tenuiflora. Also, this tree or bush from the family of the Fabaceae is originally from northeastern Brazil but also grows in several countries in Central and South America. This entheogen can be used as an ingredient in Ayahuasca but is also effective without the addition of other plant species. As well as the effect is identical, the intensity and duration vary. The traditional preparation of Mimosa Hostilis is called Vinho de Jurema (Wine of Jurema). This ‘sacred’ beverage has been used by shamans for thousands of years, serving it during special ceremonies to invoke visions and experience the Divine.
